Hi I'm Libby, designer, creator of iheartcharlie
The iheartcharlie story started over 20 years ago in the studio at my
childhood home near Fremantle in Western Australia. Back then I was in
Art School and majoring in Textile Design and was inspired by a lovely
lady from Rajasthan who conducted an Indian Textile workshop I
participated in. I picked up a needle and some embroidery thread and
started to embroider my owns designs and the first Visual Journal Slip
covers evolved. They were nothing like the Indian Textiles but
encompassed the simplicity that embodied my work at that time. My
Journal Covers were originally sold at a local market and a gallery near
my house.
A couple of years later I moved interstate and my
sewing machine and cottons were packed away. And my focus shifted to
painting and doodling, the results of this era are starting to emerge in
hand printed textiles and also in prints that I sell at the markets
I returned
home to Western Australia 2 years later but it was a couple of years
before my sewing machine reappeared from it's long vacation and
gradually the seeds of what is now 'iheartcharlie' began to appear. In
July 2009 I discovered etsy and signed as a buyer and in late October of
that year I took the leap and listed my first items. My shop on etsy
was originally intended to stock my photography but some how the textiles
have taken a life of their own and the design label 'iheartcharlie' was
born.
I am currently using the Australian site madeit.com.au to stock and sell my items.
I also love to draw and create surface designs. You can currently find the results of these in my RedBubble shop
